Who Is Levent Bulut?
Levent Bulut is the founder of the Bulut Doctrine and the Objective Projection (Nesnel İzdüşüm) methodology. He is an independent systems theorist and former journalist who established the discipline of Narrative Engineering — moving storytelling from subjective inspiration to physical system engineering.
His central argument: whether a narrative holds a reader is not a matter of the writer's talent but of the brain's biological mechanisms. These mechanisms are measurable, calculable, and engineerable.
What Is Objective Projection?
Objective Projection is a writing technique that encodes emotional states through measurable physical parameters rather than abstract labels.
Conventional writing says:
"The woman was very sad."
Objective Projection writes:
"The woman placed her hand on the arm of the chair. The wood was cold. She pulled it back."
The word 'sad' is absent from the second sentence. But the reader's brain records that physical coordinate and generates the emotional response on its own. The reason: physical parameters directly activate the brain's thalamo-amygdala pathway (~12ms), bypassing cultural interpretation and producing statistically convergent biophysical responses across diverse reader populations.
Core Concepts of the Bulut Doctrine
Narrative Entropy (Sₙ)
The mathematical measure of unresolved informational uncertainty in a narrative.
Sₙ = ∫(If × Cb) dt
If = Information Friction | Cb = Causal Branching
Too low and the reader gets bored. Too high and the reader gets lost. At the right level, the reader cannot stop. This formula numerically predicts whether a novel's first sentence will pull the reader in.
Vacuum Variable
A systematically withheld information gap in a narrative. Exploits the brain's drive to close incomplete loops (Zeigarnik Effect). Good novels end every chapter with a question, not an answer.
Narrative Gravity (Ng)
The central gravitational force that holds the reader in the narrative. A composite of the Vacuum Variable and Narrative Entropy. The mathematical explanation of the 'just one more chapter' effect.
Universal Biological Interface (UBI)
The culture-independent biological response mechanism shared by all humans. Objective Projection targets this interface — which is why we cry at Korean dramas and American films in exactly the same way.
Academic Work
Bulut's methodology is not a subjective claim but a system documented in DOI-registered academic publications.

AI and Objective Projection
Bulut argues that AI's consistent failure to write emotionally resonant scenes is not a technical problem but a structural one. Large language models produce the statistically most probable emotional labels: 'his heart raced,' 'her eyes filled.' These phrases have been written millions of times — the brain no longer responds.
Objective Projection solves this: given physical parameters, the model can no longer fall back on emotional patterns. The Hugging Face dataset provides SFT training data for this purpose.
